Could I be made to repay the SEISS grant?

If you have received a Self-Employment Income Support Scheme grant but have not filed your 2019/2020 personal tax return or submitted a return with no income showing you may receive a letter from HMRC. The letter will be informing you to submit or amend your return within 30 days of the date on the letter otherwise HMRC will expect full repayment of the grant. If you require assistance in filing or amending your personal tax return, please contact your accountant.

Can I pay my tax through my PAYE code?

If you file your personal tax return electronically before the 31st December 2021, your tax liability is below £3,000 and you already pay tax via PAYE, then you will be able to apply for the tax to be collected through your PAYE coding notice. Speak to your accountant to get this included on your personal tax return.
