Umbrella company users 'should boost their team's morale'

Category: Contractor Industry News

Umbrella company users heading up a team should get involved in boosting morale and engagement, an expert has advised.

Shaf Rasul, a dragon on Dragon's Den online and 2010 Orange Leader of the Year Award judge, has highlighted the fact that this can be the best way for a contractor to get the most out of their team.

He said that this will often involve staff getting more involved in the business and even coming up with suggestions on how to improve its processes.

Another key area that he highlighted as having special prominence is being good with budgets, as many teams rank this as the most important trait in their managers.

Mr Rasul said: "I think a lot of it got to be about leading by example ... I just wouldn't expect somebody to do something that I wouldn't do myself."

His comments follow research by the 2010 Orange Leader of the Year Award, which found that 56 per cent of bosses have actively changed their leadership stance to be seen as more of a part of the team.
