Umbrella company users 'could see more opportunities in Q3'

Category: Recruitment Agency News

The number of flexible, temporary and interim staffing opportunities is likely to grow over the next three months, umbrella company users have been told.

Figures published by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) have shown that 18 per cent of companies are looking to increase their short-term use of contingent labour during the next quarter.

Its report suggested that the long-term demand for both temporary and permanent staffing is due to increase.

Roger Tweedy, director of research at the organisation, claimed that the Emergency Budget and the uncertainty in economies around the world have led to this result.

He said: "As public spending cuts begin in earnest, we believe flexible temporary and interim staffing will be essential to the ultimate re-engineering of the sector."

Earlier this month, Work Foundation associate director Stephen Overell warned that the coalition government's public-sector job cuts could impact on the wider UK economy, which could concern umbrella company users.
