Umbrella company users will benefit if the coalition turns its statements on reducing the regulatory burden on small businesses into actions, an expert has claimed.

Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), has highlighted the fact that the rhetoric used by the government to date is reassuring but that it is important that this results in concrete steps to improve the situation.

"Ensuring that the Agency Workers Regulations are workable will be a major test of the government's resolve," he explained.

Mr Green added that it is also important that the government is proactive when it comes to increasing the number of jobs available in the private sector.

He praised recent announcement prioritising the simplification of business taxes and cutting red tape as important steps in the right direction.

Earlier this week, John Whiting, tax director at the Office of Tax Simplification, claimed that the fact that IR35 legislation is under review does not mean that it will necessarily be abolished.ADNFCR-2808-ID-800025513-ADNFCR
