IT contractors with umbrella companies have been told that their sector will be boosted for the next five years.

This is after the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) revealed that business services as a whole will benefit from an annual growth of 2.7 per cent from now until 2015.

However, it is the stats relating to Britain's IT sector which will most interest company umbrella contractors, with promising annual growth of 5.1 per cent projected over that period.

Furthermore, those with umbrella companies looking for work will be pleased to hear that the CEBR believes that 93,000 extra IT positions will be created by 2015.

The height of this figure is helped out more due to high growth rates also expected to be seen in the consultancy and R&D sectors, which are closely associated to the IT part of the industry.

Gerry McLaughlin reacted to the figures by telling IT Contractor: "That's just one straw in the wind that is pointing to an IT contractor market recovery."
