Umbrella company contractors 'see promise in financial services work'
Posted by Daniel Frost
More IT contractors with umbrella companies are looking for work in the financial services sector compared to the same time last year.
Research from Giant Group has indicated that 36.7 per cent of IT contractors believe the most jobs in IT will be created in this sector in the next 12 months.
This is a considerable rise compared to the same time in 2010, when just 22 per cent believed this to be the case, Computer Weekly reported.
Matthew Brown, managing director at Giant Group, commented: "The private sector recovery is well and truly under way … The banking sector in particular is growing at the fastest rate since before the financial crisis."
On the flip side, those with an umbrella company in the public sector could be set for harder times in 2011, with this part of the economy facing its "biggest ever cuts", according to the news source.
Recently, it was reported that Manchester City Council expects to axe 2,000 jobs, as a result of sharp cuts in government funding.
