Company umbrella contractors have been told how they can head into the new year with a positive attitude about their finances.

A set of independent financial advisors, from industry website unbiased.co.uk, have given their views on how best to take the weight off money pressure.

For example, Steve Laird, from Carrington Wealth Management, believes that those with umbrella companies should aim to pay for products before the VAT rise on January 4th, as this could see considerable savings being made.

Meanwhile, putting away a regular amount of cash each month could benefit contractors, according to Gordon Bowden, of Quainton Hills Financial Planning Ltd.

He believes that by doing this, as well as setting a spending budget, will mean that people can be relaxed with their money both in the short and long terms.

Karen Barrett, chief executive of unbiased.co.uk, commented: "Consumers should make their financial resolutions now and start planning ahead to get their money matters in order, ready for the new year."

Meanwhile, Ed Bowsher, head of consumer finance at lovemoney.com, recently advised company umbrella contractors to note down only the essential goods they need for Christmas, so they can avoid financial woes over the festive period.
