Umbrella company contractors 'could still save for Xmas'
Posted by Daniel Frost
With the time until Christmas Day now under the 50-day mark, many contractors with umbrella companies may be thinking it is too late to start saving for that celebration.
However, Mark Bower, managing director at Moneymaxim.co.uk, believes that people could be surprised at just what they could put away between now and the time the credit card bill arrives in January 2011.
Some tips that he gives to help rack up the savings include using a kettle to make a warm coffee instead of opting for a ready-made one every day, as well as putting spare change away in a bottle or piggy bank.
Mr Bower also suggested those with an umbrella company to recycle unwanted presents, perhaps on eBay, as "it's the time of year others will be looking for what someone else thought would be your ideal gift last year."
His advice follows on from the recently released NS&I Savings Survey, which found that out of a quarter of Britons who said they were less likely to save during autumn, seven per cent believed they would find it hard to put cash aside the closer that Christmas comes.
