Umbrella company contracting 'can benefit unemployed women'

The number of unemployed women has hit its highest level in over 20 years, but this may not be all bad news, umbrella company contractors have been told.
In fact, females who find themselves in this position may want to check out the benefits of self employment, advised Deb Leary OBE, the national president of the British Association for Women Entrepreneurs.
She noted that taking up this opportunity, as well as signing up with an umbrella company, could prove to open up new ways of working, with plenty of networks available to help would-be female contractors find their feet in this venture of the business world.
Ms Leary added: "We need more women to develop businesses and not just lifestyle businesses but businesses that are going to be the next household brand [or] name. We need more of those in the country."
Her advice came after the Office for National Statistics found that the number of unemployed women had been recorded most recently as 1.02 million – the highest figure since 1988.
