Umbrella company IT contractors 'see surge in retail demand'
Posted by Daniel Frost
Demand for IT contractors, who may be with umbrella companies, in the retail sector has leapt by 46 per cent in the last six months.
This is according to the number of instructions received by ReThink Recruitment, the business and technology staffing company, IT Contractor reported.
It believes that the surge in those with an umbrella company being required in this sector of the business world has come about after the number of retailers that have invested or replaced their core e-commerce platforms.
ReThink also found that more IT contractors are being persuaded to stay with in their current place of work through the incentive of buyback offers, which can see an increase in their pay packet by between 15 and 20 per cent.
Iain Blair, director of ReThink, shed light on reasons for these results, saying: "[Consumers] are often surprised that they are unable to personally return unwanted goods bought online to a store near their home or workplace. Retailers who do not add this functionality to their systems risk losing market share."
Contractors UK recently reported that 63 per cent of those with an umbrella company with a career in IT believed that they will see a rise in earnings over the next year, according to a survey by Giant.
