Tall female professional contractors 'earn more'

Category: Finance for Contractors

Women over 5ft 8ins tall are more successful in the workplace, female professional contractors may be pleased to hear.

Taller women are twice as likely to have a salary of £30,000 or more, according to research by clothing chain Long Tall Sally.

On average, they take home £5,000 more each year than their shorter female colleagues.

Women over 6ft have a much greater chance of landing a managerial role, the study, carried out to celebrate Stand Tall Week, revealed.

A fifth of the taller females questioned said their stature gives them empowerment and authority, suggesting they may find a role as a freelance contractor a rewarding and successful one.

More can be done to encourage female IT contractors, it has been said, as figures from the IT Job Board show that only one-third of IT workers are women.

This is despite 90 per cent of women saying they can do IT jobs just as well as men.
