Super-fast broadband 'has many benefits to freelance contractors'

The benefits of super-fast broadband access for the UK are wide-reaching and varied, it has been said.

Improved internet access could boost the efficiency of small businesses, commented a spokesperson for the Communications Consumer Panel (CCP), which would aid freelance contractors.

"It could also bring new ways for people and teachers to access education materials and help lifelong learning," the spokesperson continued, highlighting the benefits to teaching contractors.

To ensure these positive aspects continue, the government must be committed to keeping pace with demand in the years ahead, the CCP spokesperson added.

The Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government is to introduce measures which will ensure the rapid roll-out of super-fast broadband across the country.

Money from the TV licence fee could be used to fund the scheme, it was revealed, with the technology introduced in remote areas at the same time as more populated ones.
