The latest Report on Jobs from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG has revealed a rise in permanent and temporary staff placements for the tenth consecutive month in May.A further improvement in demand for staff was also seen, with recruiters indicating strong growth, contractor umbrella companies may be interested to hear.
Staff pay also continued on the upward trend previously seen, as did the availability of short-term workers.
Accountants, human resource professionals and software developers were in high demand, said REC chief executive Kevin Green.
However, he urged caution, pointing out that much of the growth was at a slower rate than previous months and spending cuts could hit the overall employment outlook.
The scrapping of the full rise in national insurance put forward by the previous government has been welcomed by recruitment group Hays, which told Recruiter it will help employers continue to take on staff.
