Social networking 'used to recruit freelance contractors'
Category: Recruitment Agency News
Traditional freelance contractor recruitment methods could be replaced with social networking, it has been claimed.Using sites such as Facebook and Twitter in recruitment efforts can cut costs and attract a range of applicants, explained Stephanie Lee, sourcing specialist for European staffing at Intel.
Speaking at a meeting held by the Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC), she explained how the firm set up social networking groups to reach potential employees, fostering a relationship through outlets such as blogs.
Carrying out initial recruitment efforts online should still be followed by face-to-face interviews, Ms Lee explained.
Delegates at the event also heard from the Royal Bank of Scotland on the use of social media, which highlighted the opportunities for customer relationship management through networking sites.
ARC chairman Adrian Marlowe urged any firm looking to social networking to recruit freelance contractors and other staff to be aware of the legal and practical issue surrounding the approach.
