Opportunities for contractors 'have increased'
Category: Contractor Industry News
The number of opportunities for contractors increased during the last three months, with the majority of jobs created being filled by part time, temporary or self-employed jobseekers.Dr John Philpott, chief economic adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, claimed that the most recent set of employment figures has shown the health of this sector of the jobs market.
He said that there has been less growth in permanent jobs, with fewer roles of this type being created.
"With a big public sector jobs squeeze already underway and the pace of economic recovery uncertain, things may look a lot less rosy by spring 2011 than they do at present," he explained.
Dr Philpott recently claimed that younger contractors are set to benefit the most from the changes, as this has stopped worsening.
Figures published by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation recently suggested that umbrella company users will see more opportunities for flexible, temporary and interim positions.
