Umbrella company users who are finding it hard to secure contracts in the future have been told to look into networking.

Sites operating as networking portals are vast on the internet at the moment, and Contract Eye has reported just how important these could be for contractors.

It has highlighted LinkedIn as a main place to visit and log on to, as a simple and impersonal page can be set up in minutes, which then allows contractors with an umbrella company to upload a CV to show off their skills and experience to a range of potential clients.

Furthermore, groups can be added by the user to allow them to focus in on specific industries that they wish to work in, as well as been able to catch up with past colleagues and clients to see if they can secure a contract with a former company.

The article explained: "It is worth keeping in touch with colleagues, if only to be fresh in their minds for future work opportunities."

Other networking sites are available to umbrella company users, but Contract Eye has recently revealed that 43 per cent of contracting group PCG see LinkedIn as a "vital tool".
