Ministers warned over NHS IT spending cuts
Category: Health and Safety for Contractors
Ministers have been warned to be wary of cutting back too much on IT contractor payroll jobs when making cost reductions across the NHS.The government needs to be keen to undermining technology programmes that can play an important role in improving how the NHS operates, according to IT association Intellect, which could include ensuring IT professional contractor spending is maintained.
Associate director of the organisation Sureyya Cansoy underlined the importance of finding efficiencies in the tough economic climate.
She said: "In these tough times it is important ... not too undermine the important role that technologies can play in transforming the way in which government works and transforming the way services are delivered."
Ms Cansoy was responding to a survey by E-Health Insider published on December 31st, which indicated that many of those interviewed felt that the NHS is already starting to feel the purse strings tighten and that healthcare IT would need to demonstrate its worth.
