Medicine and engine exports 'key contractor area'
Category: Contractor Industry News
A strong performance in terms of medicine and engine exports suggests that these are the most profitable areas for contractors to get involved in, an expert has claimed.Martin Bamford, chartered financial planner at Informed Choice, claimed that these are the only two of the five most popular exports to have grown in volume last year.
He said that while these both displayed "strong" growth, this was not enough to reverse an overall pattern.
His comments follow the publication of figures by the International Monetary Fund which predicted that the UK's economy would expand by 1.2 per cent in 2010 and 2.1 per cent in 2011.
Mr Bamford added that companies in the UK will be increasingly targeting Asian economies, as these are key growth areas which have a lot of potential.
Contractors' looking for the best firms to get involved with may be interested in the HSBC report Looking East: The Changing Face of World Business, which found only 14 per cent of UK firms recognised that "eastern customers" could boost their business opportunities.
