A review is to be conducted into the burden that regulations regarding health and safety impose on contractors and umbrella company users - and the effectiveness of measures put in place to reduce this.

The Department for Business, Innovation and skills has announced that a review of the Local Better Regulation Office (LBRO) is to be undertaken and will assess how effective the measures currently in place do their job and whether the group has made conditions easier for companies.

The LBRO covers topics and laws including those related to environmental health, fire safety, trading standards and licensing, which can all impact on those contractors working in trades such as construction.

Key stakeholders will be approached as part of the assessment and the organisation will be assessed on whether it has created conditions that can effectively enact local-level regulatory reform.

Earlier this month, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation claimed that the government must turn its statements on reducing business regulation into actions.ADNFCR-2808-ID-800026587-ADNFCR
