Investor code will make life easier for contractors
Category: PAYE Umbrella Company News
Contractors and umbrella companies will be able to work with business owners and boards that are keener to engage with them, according to an expert.John Cridland, CBI deputy director-general, said that the new investor stewardship code will try to make investors more responsible owners, which could make life easier for contractors using umbrella companies.
"We welcome this as a way to build a long-term approach to ownership, but dialogue is a two-way street and institutional investors need to raise their game too. This message should be particularly conveyed to foreign investors, who own an increasing proportion of UK shares," he stated.
He added that under the code, boards are being asked to raise corporate governance standards and increase engagement with investors in order to build more sustainable business relationships.
Dr Neil Bentley, CBI director of business environment, recently said that the second Progress Report from the Committee on Climate Change showed how businesses and those using umbrella companies need to try and become more energy efficient.
