Interim managers with umbrella companies 'provide rapid results'
Posted by Sarah Putt
Contractors using umbrella companies often make useful interim managers, an expert has suggested.
David Harries, director of the IMA Institute, has highlighted the fact that companies looking for someone to fill this role will often look for a contractor who can bring experience in delivering a change programme to the firm.
He said that these candidates will need to be able to identify any underlying problems and to implement the appropriate solution throughout the workforce.
The fact that they do not add to a company's headcount but can create rapid results is one of the reasons for their attractiveness, he claimed.
Mr Harries added: "That's why they are going to be used as the last to let go and the first to be used when you are either coming into a recession or coming out of a recession."
Earlier this month, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation found that 31 per cent of companies intend to boost their temporary workforce.
