Increased demand for contractors across many UK sectors
Posted by Daniel Frost
Contractors with umbrella companies who are currently in search of work have been told how February's Monster Employment Index for the UK represents "a significant milestone".
This is the view of Isabelle Ratinaud, a spokesperson for Monster UK & Ireland, who was thrilled by the fact that recruitment was found to be "at its highest level" since December 2008.
Furthermore, she pointed out that many industries have "a positive outlook" ahead, which could aid company umbrella contractors awaiting work opportunities.
Ms Ratinaud explained: "Many sectors that were said to be struggling, such as construction, have shown a strong recovery this month."
However, despite opportunities opening up, the expert went on to warn contractors that unemployment also remains high, thus creating plenty of competition when attempting to secure work.
Recently, research by Reed Recruitment revealed that demand for contractors with IT skills was at its highest level in over a year.
