'Increase in IT jobs', umbrella company contractors told
Posted by Sarah Putt
Company umbrella contractors have been told that the IT jobs market is improving, but there is still a skills shortage in the sector.
Richard Nott, website director at CWJobs.co.uk, gave these views, noting that there has "definitely" been a rise in the number of IT staff taken on in the UK.
He added that increased demand for umbrella company contractors with skills in IT has also been recognised in the economy already in 2011, with Mr Nott expecting this to grow further throughout the year.
However, the expert commented: "There is still very much an underlying skills shortage – a shortage of good IT people in the UK. There are not enough people with the right skills."
Recently, a report by e-Skills UK, entitled Technology Insights 2011, suggested that the IT and Telecoms industry employment levels are set to rise by 2.19 per cent per annum, which is almost five times faster than the UK's average.
