IT department budgets 'could rise by 2011'

Category: Contractor Industry News

Investment in IT departments is set to rise in the second half of this year, with an additional 29 per cent expecting this to take place in 2011, IT contractors have been told.

Dynamic Markets' Rebirth of the IT Budget report has found that 82 per cent of managers have admitted that IT funding has been affected in some way by the last two years, but the majority believe that this will improve in the near future.

A total of 60 per cent believe that this change will happen in the next six months, while 29 per cent believe that the recovery in these budgets will happen in 2011.

One of the major pressures on IT departments was found to be the ability to resolve technical problems quickly, which 71 per cent nominated, while 69 per cent identified keeping track of IT assets as the most challenging.

Last month, Equifax external affairs director Neil Monroe suggested that security programmes would grow in importance of companies, which could create new IT contractor roles.
