IT contractors with umbrella companies may grow in numbers in the next few years as a result of children being brought up in a world of technology.

The European Commission recently released its pan-European survey, which found that kids between the ages of 15 and 16 first started using the internet when they were 11, whereas those aged between nine and ten became acquainted to it at seven years-old.

Maggie Berry, managing director of womenintechnology.co.uk, believes that there had also been a rise in the numbers of women incorporating mobile technology into their lives, adopting wider ways of communication.

She noted at the 360°IT event, which took place at Earls Court in September, she questioned "whether they would consider it more as a career because they're so used to using it on a day-to-day basis".

Ms Berry noted that those who opt to be an IT contractor with an umbrella company will be able to have experience that not even she could have during her younger years.
