IT contractors see recruitment increase
Category: Contractor Industry News
There has been an increase in recruitment, improving IT contractors' chances of finding work. Many firms are boosting their IT recruitment as they have realised the need to upgrade their systems, explained Adrian Marlowe, chairman of the Association of Recruitment Consultants.
He pointed out that this trend is being seen in the banking sector as well, again creating more opportunities for IT contractors.
However, Mr Marlowe called for caution, pointing out that the upcoming election will affect the economy and jobs market.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG Report on Jobs revealed that contract staff billings increased in February, albeit at the slowest rate in three months.
Demand for freelance contractors was rising and hourly pay rates also increased.
"High-end sectors such as IT are showing particularly strong growth and we are also seeing significant increases in demand for admin and back-office support," commented Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC.
