The number of IT contractors and other ICT-ready candidates is outstripping demand for the skills, according to one business body.As recruitment picks up in-line with the economic recovery, clients looking for IT contractors will be able to fill their vacancies quickly and with the highest standard recruits, according to the Technology Demand and Supply report from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
Produced by e-skills, the study reveals a growing demand for IT specialists in SQL, C#, .NET and Linux, alongside continued overall growth in the ICT industry.
"It is very encouraging to see that companies will still invest in technology to develop their businesses even when there is a tough economic landscape," commented Jeff Brooks, chair of REC Technology.
He suggested the upturn would develop at an even stronger rate in the coming months.
ITjobboard.co.uk's managing director Alex Farrell has also highlighted the current strength of the IT contractor sector, pointing out that more firms are focusing on IT as they come out of the recession.
