IT contractors 'making more in hourly rate'
Posted by Daniel Frost
The good news keeps bundling through for IT contractors with an umbrella company, now that it has emerged they are benefiting more in the pocket.
Contractor UK has reported that there has been a 15 per cent rise in average hourly rates in the last quarter when looking at the ten most commonly requested contract roles, up to £32.96 from the previous figure of £28.23.
Furthermore, this rate is the highest felt by IT contractors since March 2008, with project managers feeling the biggest jump – from £30 to £38 in hourly rates, which is even above the pre-recession average sum of £37.50.
Those with umbrella companies that are working with skills in C# and .NET will also probably have felt the benefits significantly too, according to the report.
Alex Farrell, managing director of theitjobboard.co.uk, explained: "We have continued to see a rapid rise in the number of positions being advertised … a real sign that the market is bouncing back."
Meanwhile, any contractor, looking to get into work, including those with IT skills, may also be pleased to know that there has been an 11 per cent rise in vacancies in this area in the second quarter of the year, IT Contractor has reported.
