IT company umbrella contractors 'can expect bumper 2011'

IT contractors with umbrella companies can expect to have a good working year ahead, according to one expert's predictions.

Gerry McLaughlin, from ITContractor.com, believes that the IT market was the first to pick up after the recession, with financial institutions and a series of banks now competing to secure company umbrella contractors with IT skills.

He also pointed out that it is only the public sector which will be seeing cut backs, but the strength of the private sector should ensure that those with an umbrella company will not feel the bite too much.

Mr McLaughlin added: "2011 looks as if it will be a bumper year for those that work in the IT industry and already, so soon after the downturn, there are signs of looming skills shortages in some areas."

The views of this expert come after a recent survey from the IT Job Board found that 72 per cent of IT managers still believe that their industry is still suffering from the recession.
