Govt 'must act' if green-collar work to create 400,000 new jobs in next 10 years

Category: Contractor Industry News

There could be numerous opportunities for umbrella company users suitable for getting involved in green-collar work, an expert has suggested.

David Powell, economics campaigner for Friends of the Earth, has claimed that there are up to 400,000 new jobs that could be created in this new area over the next ten years, which could be good news for contractors.

He said that, so far, the progress towards this goal has been inadequate and that more must be done in order to secure this future.

The key step is that the government ensures that the jobs which are created are good positions, that they are based in areas which are suffering industrial decline and that they extend through every type of business.

Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society, recently called on the government to do more to encourage entrepreneurs from every sector to increase the number of people they hire.
