It is important that government budget cuts do not impact on its ability to ensure existing business regulations are followed, IT contractors have been told. The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has called for action to be taken to make sure that current enforcement mechanisms remain in place.
Tom Hadley, director of external relations at the organisation, said that the industry is backing the continuation of these measures.
He explained: "This is crucial in order to protect the interests of law-abiding businesses, as well as workers, and would not be served by dismantling current enforcement mechanisms."
Mr Hadley added that the government's initial steer, which will see that inspections continue to be properly targeted and will be constructive, is another welcome move.
Earlier this month, the Chartered Institute of Taxation welcomed the government's proposals for changes to tax policymaking, saying it is a "big step" towards improving the deep flaws in the existing system.
