Female professional contractors 'interview better'
Category: Recruitment Agency News
Female professional contractors perform better at interviews, but new research shows that many women are not getting the top jobs that they go for.The findings from TheLadders.co.uk's survey of 500 bosses showed that 59 per cent thought that women interview better for jobs.
It found that they outperform men in 11 out of 18 categories, with the majority saying that ladies understand company culture, are more personable and present their skills more effectively.
However, 43 per cent of the senior staff members questioned said that they would prefer to hire men, which may affect female professional contractors' chances of finding work.
The survey showed that many interviewers were concerned that ladies would leave the position when they have children, which may not impact on professional contactors as much as permanent staff.
These findings follow the release of figures from the Training and Development Agency for Schools, which showed that more men are becoming teachers than women, the Guardian reported.
