Contractors should ensure they maintain eye contact when meeting a potential client and that their face is that last thing they see, an expert has claimed.James Borg, writing for the Daily Telegraph, said that when people greet an interviewer or client they should walk in with a sense of purpose, shake hands firmly and maintain eye contact.
The expert added that people should "listen with their body", using head nods to show that they understand and are engaged.
"When making your own points, adopt techniques popular with public speakers: use your hands to signal the parts of your sentences you're trying to emphasise," he stated.
Mr Borg also said that people should ensure their face is the last thing the interviewer sees, by turning around for a final goodbye, rather than just walking out.
The expert added that when people become nervous their body language becomes confused, so interviewees should ensure that they do not fidget or allow their eyes to wander.
