England's poor performance will not harm contractors
Category: Contractor Industry News
Contractors using umbrella companies will not be affected by England's woeful performance at the World Cup in South Africa, according to an expert, who said that Brits will continue to spend money on fun outdoor activities regardless of the early exit of Fabio Capello's team.Richard Caines, senior retail analyst for Mintel, said that the end to the warm weather and the dismal display by the football squad will not stop people from spending and having fun with retail therapy during the summer months.
"An end to the hot weather doesn't necessarily mean an adverse effect on retail sales as if the weather is too hot more people will head for the beach or stay in their gardens rather than go shopping for general merchandise," he stated.
Contractors using umbrella companies and working in retail should be buoyed by the news and Mr Caines added that if the good weather continues the situation will be even brighter for the sector.
Claire Nurden, research and policy officer for Independent Age said that the default retirement age is outdated and implies, to some people, that those over the age of 65 are less capable than their younger counterparts.
