Contractors 'should ensure their CV stands out'

Category: Recruitment Agency News

Professional contractors should ensure that their CV stands out and shows that they are right for the job, according to an expert.

Virginia Raemy, chief executive of recruitment expert TalentPuzzle, said that the recession has led to more unemployed people, so they are taking a chance and applying for jobs which they are not fully qualified for.

"The quality of CVs that employers receive isn't as good as it usually is and the quantity is much higher," she added.

This means that professional contractors need to ensure they are applying for work which is relevant and making their CV stand out.

Ms Raemy's comments follow the publication of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG's Report on Jobs, which stated that there was an increase in recruitment of professional contractors in February, but growth was slower than the rise in permanent recruitment.

Pay rates for temporary and contract staff also rose by a slight amount for the second month running.
