Contractors set for housing boost

Category:

The next 25 years will see 2.5 million homes built to accommodate the UK's swelling population, according to one newspaper and this could be great news for contractors.

100,000 homes will need to be constructed each year to house the surge in immigrants, reported the Daily Mail, and construction contractors will have their hands full when trying to keep up with demand for their services.

Communities department spokesman Andrew Stunell stated that the housing projections show that the increase in home building will be essential as the UK's population continues to grow.

"It is estimated that net international migration could account, on average, for 40 per cent of the net growth of households in the England over the projection period from 2006 to 2031," he stated.

In other contractor news, Michael Dean, head of marketing at the National Computing Centre, said that there could be a "significant" impact on the IT outsourcing industry if renegotiations begin and existing contracts are changed.ADNFCR-2808-ID-19913087-ADNFCR
