Contractors' applications need to be honed
Category: Contractor Industry News
Sending out hundreds of poorly thought out CVs is useless, according to an expert, who said contractors using umbrella companies need to tailor their applications in order to succeed.Keith Potts, chief executive of Jobsite.co.uk, said that it may take more time to hone all contractors job applications, but by doing so they will have a better chance of securing a position.
"Make clear on your covering letter/application/CV that you have the skills and experience that the job requires and ensure that each application is tailored specifically for that job, it may take a bit of extra time, but will be worth it," he stated.
Working for free was also recommended by the expert who said that by doing so contractors can help to build up experience in a specific field.
Friends Provident recently recommended that contractors seeking work remain proactive and seek to get on a company's database rather than waiting for work to be advertised.
