Contractors affected by London strikes 'can benefit from cloud computing'
Posted by Sarah Putt
IT contractors with an umbrella company who are working in London may be able to feel less disruption over further proposed underground strikes if their client has taken advantage of cloud computing strategies.
This is according to Rob Lovell, chief executive of ThinkGrid, who has pointed out that cloud computing allows for contractors to access information they require to carry out their workload, even if they are nowhere near the office.
Being able to share files and communicate with colleagues while on other means of public transport or sitting at home is set to help out clients too, as well as meaning that contractors will be under less hassle as a result of the strikes.
Mr Lovell explained: "All the IT services provided are continuous, so that you do not notice any difference and there are no disadvantages to, for instance, working from home."
Riverbed Technology has also advised clients to find alternate ways for contractors within their company to work from home, instead of commuting in what is likely to be difficult circumstances.
