The labour market in the UK is creating job opportunities at a faster rate, which could open up more chances of work for contractors with umbrella companies.

According to the Reed Job Index, the jobs market has recorded a reading which is 16 per cent higher than in January.

In further good news for company umbrella contractors, the Reed Job Index's figure of 131 is the highest that the gauge has recorded since it began in December 2009.

These vacancies are covering the whole of the UK too, with opportunities high in the South west, East Anglia and London.

Meanwhile, those with umbrella companies should be able to find job chances in such in sectors such as telecoms, media and transport, with the research finding a rise in vacancies in each of these.

Commenting on the findings, Martin Warnes, Reed's managing director, stated: "Employers right across the private sector are showing their confidence by recruiting new staff, at a time when high competition for new jobs is still keeping a cap on salaries."

For those applying for some new work, Tony Roy, president of CareerBuilder EMEA, recommended getting keywords into a CV, to boost the appeal of this important document.
