Company umbrella contractors told how to write a CV
Posted by Sarah Putt
Umbrella company contractors currently in search of work have been given some tips on how best to prepare their CVs.
Tony Roy, president of CareerBuilder EMEA, explained that one of the highlighting features for getting a resume recognised is to include keywords.
Types of words associated with a particular organisation could be found easily by scanning through attributes that a client is looking for in a candidate, and then include some of them into a CV.
However, Mr Roy warned: "It's important to note that you shouldn't overdo it, though. If you cut and paste blocks of text from the job ad, the employer may ignore the CV altogether."
Other tips given to company umbrella contractors cleaning up their application include tailoring a CV to each work opportunity, as well as highlighting accomplishments met during past jobs.
The comments come after a survey by CareerBuilder.co.uk found that 32 per cent of employers in the UK spend no more than one minute looking at a CV, thus highlighting the need to keep the document tight and concise.
