Company umbrella contractors 'should carry minimum of cards'

Company umbrella contractors who are heading into the high street during the busy festive period have been told to be vigilant with any credit or debit cards they carry.

Sarah Blaney, card fraud expert at CCP, said that the build up to Xmas should be a particularly convenient time to be aware of the dangers.

One way that those with umbrella companies could be more relaxed when heading down to shops which are crammed with shoppers is to only take the cards which they know they will be spending on.

Not every credit and debit card needs to be carried around at all times, with taking only the vital few providing greater protection to owners.

In much the same way, possessions, like a handbag, should never be left unattended when in shops or restaurants, according to Ms Blaney.

She explained: "In the hustle and bustle, you're not always aware of the things that are going on around you, so keep all your belongings safe."

There are set to be many shoppers flooding high streets in the coming days, with Sainsbury's Finance recently finding that the average person intends to spend £170.25 in Christmas week.
