Posted by John Crawley
There has been a rise in the number of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) embracing cloud computing, new research has indicated to IT contractors working with umbrella companies.
The IBM study found that 70 per cent of businesses are currently treating cloud computing technology as a priority.
Many of these companies are hoping to use this technique as a way of aiding the responsiveness and adaptability of their workplaces.
Furthermore, the research has also indicated that within the next 12 to 18 months, 62 per cent of clients are gearing up to increase their IT expenditure, a considerable hike compared to just 11 per cent who said the same back in 2009.
Commenting on the findings, Andy Rigby, an IBM business partner, said: "We've seen a steady increase in interest from mid-sized companies that are looking for trusted technology partners that can address and eliminate many of the obstacles of widespread cloud computing adoption."
Cloud computing has become a useful aid for IT contractors, thanks to its ability to deliver resources from the internet without needing to resort to a direct connection to a server.
