Cloud computing 'becoming top technology priority'
Posted by John Crawley
Company umbrella contractors have been told that it should come as no surprise that cloud computing is emerging as one of the top technology priorities.
Nathan Marke, chief technology officer at 2e2, gave this view after research by the International Data Corporation predicted that strong growth will be felt by the worldwide cloud systems management software market over the next few years.
Mr Marke pointed out that IT departments have been finding it difficult to increase business agility in recent times, while also having to cope with growing cost pressures.
However, those with umbrella companies may be interested to hear that, in the expert's opinion, companies are now starting to realise the flexibility in the cost and skills base that cloud computing can achieve.
He acknowledged: "The challenge for most [chief information officers] is now to establish which type of cloud computing model, whether it be a public, private or even a hybrid approach, best meets their business needs."
