Body scans are a step too far for interviews

Category: Employment Law, Taxation and Legislation for Contractors

Proposals to introduce body scans as part of an interview process are a step too far, according to an expert, who said that contractors using umbrella companies are put under enough pressure while trying to secure work.

Alex Deane, director of Big Brother Watch, which fights intrusions on the privacy and liberties of British people, said that the idea of including a body, or brain scan, is "disgraceful" and could lead to further intrusions.

"People should not have to submit to any form of body scan before they get the job. Interviews are intrusive enough to start with without brain scans. It's allowing companies to go too far with access to our information," he stated.

The comments follow research from Ambition, which showed that there will be more vacancies than candidates in London in the third quarter of 2010.

Figures showed that London can expect to have 10.3 vacancies for every ten active candidates in quarter three and 12 vacancies per ten candidates by quarter four.ADNFCR-2808-ID-19907406-ADNFCR
