A financial advisor 'could help company umbrella contractors'

Company umbrella contractors have been advised to seek out a financial advisor to help them analyse their money flow.

This is according to a spokeswoman from Aviva, who also noted that families could benefit by taking a step back from their finances and observe where their cash is actually going to.

She commented that when money becomes a problem for many Brits, they usually have the temptation to "stick their heads in the sand", though this may not be the best solution for those with umbrella companies.

The expert suggested: "By actually sitting down and looking where income is really spent, it can be possible to manage money in a more effective way."

Another matter which has raised concern for the spokeswoman is people who do not have family protection in place, as they could be left exposed if a negative situation was to occur.

It follows on from recent research by Aviva, which found that, on average, 61 per cent of families do not have basic life insurance.
