Bulletin shows growth in IT contractor and permanent staffing
Date: May 07, 2009
E-skills quarterly bulletin which provides an update of labour and skills within IT and financial markets in the UK has outlined a rise overall in the number of people employed within the ITC industry. This comes despite the fall in number of jobs advertised both within contractors and permanent staff.
Company liquidations, redundancies and uncertainty within global and specifically the IT market have still not meant that unemployment has risen since the previous quarter, with more IT contractors in employment than ever before.
The bulletin also outlined skills shortages within the IT industry despite growing numbers of redundancies, new positions proving hard to fill include IT and Telecoms Management, Systems Development, Programming and Systems Design, spanning all levels across the industry. Strong areas of recruitment remained in key areas such as WAP and Active X showing growth within telecoms IT markets.
Purchasing of IT equipment also grew in the last quarter according to this report with spending on IT hardware and software growing over this period last year.

Signs of recovery again demonstrate that the UK is well positioned to kick start growth through investment in training and re-employment of contractors and permanent staff as new contracts loom on the horizon.
